Case Study: NSCA University Mini Campus

Services:  Turnkey technology project management

Overview

The National Systems Contractors Association (Cedar Rapids, IA) relied on members of our staff to create and manage the NSCA University Mini Campus.  The Mini Campus was an outreach program the NSCA used to inform and educate its own members and members of related associations regarding current and upcoming communications technologies.  Technologies used in the Mini Campus included many new and developing technologies available to their association members.

Background

NSCALogoNSCA is a not-for-profit association representing the commercial electronic systems industry.  The organization developed an outreach initiative to inform and educate their members as well as other “sister” associations regarding the technologies relevant to system contractors, focusing on audio, video and networks.  NSCA turned to members of our team to develop and manage the implementation of this initiative.

GenCommLogo-smallOur staff teamed together with General Communications, Inc. (GenComm) to fulfill NSCA’s needs.  We proposed to NSCA the creation of what we termed “NSCA University”, an education pavilion that would debut at an upcoming association convention.  The proposed purpose for this initial roll-out would be to educate NSCA members regarding various technologies that would soon become “required offerings” for each of them.

Technologies which were highlighted in the initial pavilion included

  • Networking technologies
  • Audio
  • Audio on the network
  • Video
  • Video on the network
  • Audio and video conferencing
  • Integrated systems control
  • Security and access control
  • Distance learning/education
  • RFID and Asset tracking

The pavilion was an unprecedented success.

Addition Outreach Initiatives

Based on the success of the initial roll-out, NSCA retained our team to design and create a traveling pavilion that would be used as an educational tool to instruct members of other related associations regarding systems integration technologies.
